  • Dr. Kathryn Andrews OD

    Dr. Kathryn Andrews developed her passion for children while working at her family's preschool at the age of 16. Dr. Kathryn (Katie) Andrews has extensive training in the management of conditions in pediatric patients such as strabismus, amblyopia, and medically necessary contact lenses in infants and pediatric patients. She also enjoys caring for adults with double vision, patients with neurological conditions, and individuals with disabilities. Dr. Katie has been voted “Best pediatric optometrist” by the Lancaster Newspaper Reader’s Choice Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Dr. Katie Andrews graduated with honors from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a bachelor's degree in biomedical science. She completed her optometric training at the New England College of Optometry in Boston where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Society. During her educational career she received numerous clinical awards and honors. After receiving her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Katie went on to complete a residency in pediatric optometry through the New England College of Optometry. During her pediatric residency she saw patients in multiple clinical locations including Tufts Medical Center, Perkins School for the Blind and various other health centers throughout the city of Boston. Dr. Katie is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She has served on an international mission trip to provide free eye care to patients in the Dominican Republic with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity) and hopes to continue to offer her time and knowledge to this honorable cause. Dr. Katie is a board member of the Medan Initiative, a local organization with the mission to provide sustainable medical care to the poorest and most vulnerable children through partnerships with schools and organizations in Ethiopia. In her spare time Dr. Katie enjoys spending time with her family, her husband, Dr. Jonathan Andrews, and their son, William. She also enjoys playing soccer, snowboarding, and cooking. Dr. Katie and Dr. Jon enjoy spending time outdoors and at the beach with their Saint Bernard, Sully. A fun fact about Dr. K.   • Dr. Jonathan Andrews

    Dr. Jonathan Andrews is a Pennsylvania native and alumnus of both Indiana University of Pennsylvania and The Ohio State University. The son of Dr. Wolfram Andrews, an Optometrist in Lancaster County, PA, Dr. Jonathan Andrews grew up on a small property in rural New Holland, PA. He spent much of his early life shadowing his father and learning the building blocks of optometry. Upon graduating from Garden Spot High School he attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Natural Sciences and Mathematics with minors in Chemistry and Physics, he was accepted to The Ohio State University College of Optometry. During his professional collegiate career at The Ohio State University, he spent his final year of training under nationally renowned eye doctors at locations in central and northern Ohio, Kentucky, Vermont, and Pennsylvania. This included a three month rotation with the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, Vermont, and a three month rotation with Commonwealth Eye Surgery in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Andrews returned to New Holland to join his father in practice, incorporating the passion for helping others instilled by his father, using the experience and expertise he acquired from training with premier optometric and medical doctors. Dr. Jonathan Andrews has extensive training in disease management such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye, and diabetic eye care, among a number of other eye diseases. He has a special interest in the management of dry eye and glaucoma, and saving what useful vision a patient might have. He also has extensive training with LASIK and cataract co-management, binocular vision disorders, as well as expertise in fitting difficult contact lenses such as rigid gas-permeable lenses (RGP), scleral contact lenses, and Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) lenses.   • Dr. Jared Freedman

    Dr. Jared Freedman initially embarked on his journey in optometry to help improve the lives and vision of those closest to him. Growing up, his sister struggled to see clearly due to high amounts of astigmatism. She had tried numerous specialty contact lenses but was not able to achieve the vision she needed. Her journey to clear vision ignited a spark as Dr. Freedman was able to see second hand the impact poor vision can have on one’s quality of life. Dr. Freedman graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and a minor in Chemistry. Following his undergraduate studies, he completed his optometric training at Southern College of Optometry where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honors Society. During his optometric training, Dr. Freedman realized his passion for vision rehabilitation utilizing specialty contact lenses and decided to pursue further residency training. Dr. Freedman completed a Cornea and Contact Lens residency program through the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. During his residency training, he had the opportunity to rotate through world renowned hospitals and tertiary care centers including the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston Medical Center, and Boston Foundation for Sight. Dr. Freedman has extensive experience in specialty contact lenses, irregular corneas, keratoconus, and the surgical management of corneal transplants and corneal cross-linking. Specifically, he has experience in fitting rigid gas permeable, scleral, hybrid, multifocal and cosmetic iris painted contact lenses for a number of ocular pathologies. At the Boston Foundation for Sight, Dr. Freedman also gained experience working with the PROSE device to help manage severe ocular surface disease. Following residency, Dr. Freedman worked as an instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He worked alongside corneal specialists fitting specialty contact lenses and managing corneal pathology. He also provided diabetic eye care, glaucoma management, comprehensive eye exams, emergency eye care and was involved in clinical research. He served as an attending optometrist and mentor to optometry students during their 4th year student externships. Dr. Freedman enjoys building relationships with his patients and treats each of his patients as if they were part of his own family. He truly enjoys helping those who have suffered with poor vision and restoring their quality of life. He continues to attend optometric education conferences and workshops to ensure he is providing his patients with the highest level of care. Dr. Freedman is an avid sports fan, enjoys cooking, cycling, hiking and spending time with his puggle (half pug/half beagle) Conley. In his spare time, he likes to travel and experience new cultures, food, and hiking trails.
